Anthony Capogreco

From the humble creek in his backyard as a child, to the Great Barrier Reef today, Anthony has grown up with a strong appreciation and passion for the natural world’s ecology and its conservation, which has steered him steadily down the path of adventure. After completing high school, Anthony went on to guide wildlife tours on Kangaroo Island. Exploring the limestone coasts of South Australia and its adjacent wild ocean led Anthony to study for a bachelor’s degree in marine biology, which he attained at Flinders University in 2008.

He’s since worked as a wildlife guide in an Amazonian refuge, an English teacher to indigenous youth in Ecuador and, back in Australia, Anthony has worked in the Northern Territory educating people on crocodile biology and the importance of their conservation. Between expeditions with National Geographic Orion, Anthony loves to further the awareness of our environments’ importance as a boat and snorkel guide on one of the natural wonders of this world, the Great Barrier Reef, with his amazing wife Melina. Also an avid nature photographer, Anthony believes that the awe of the natural world and a camera should go hand-in-hand, and if he can offer any advice it’s to make sure you bring plenty of film!
