Leveraging local knowledge, he has spearheaded fisheries, river, and reef research projects in Cambodia, Micronesia, Fiji, Barbados, and New Zealand. Brian also co-led National Geographic Expeditions in Alaska and Belize, and he served as an Expert in the Galapagos.

Brian is a United Nations Environment Programme grantee, National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, and Fulbright Scholar. As a lecturer at San Francisco State University, Brian enjoyed sharing his Channel Islands experiences and supporting others' passions in conservation.
