Cecilia Ceriani

Cecilia Ceriani was born in Uruguay and grew up in Spain. She holds a B.A. degree in English Philology and Art History from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, where she also attended PhD studies.

From 1982 to 1986 Cecilia lived in Uruguay and contributed as an art critic and book reviewer for major newspapers in Montevideo and Buenos Aires and lectured on painting and literature at the U.S. Cultural Centre of the American Embassy in Montevideo. In 1986 she returned to Spain to work as an art critic and reviewer for leading magazines and newspapers in Madrid (Cambio16 and El País) and to lecture regularly on art and literature at the American School, the Washington Irving U.S. Library and Cultural Centre in Madrid, and for NADFAS (National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies) in Great Britain.

Since 1986 Cecilia has been lecturing regularly on Spanish painting and architecture for Road Scholar’s programmes. She is also a dedicated researcher in literature. Cecilia has translated to Spanish more than 40 books of American, British, and Indian literature during the last 30 years for renowned Spanish publishing houses such as Alfaguara in Madrid and Anagrama in Barcelona, among others. Cecilia loves travelling, writing, classical music, and exploring nature. Since 1999 she lives eight months a year in Spain and four months in Uruguay.
