Elise Lockton
Elise’s passion for exploration and the natural world is evident when you learn about the places she has chosen to live, work and travel. Field courses in college and a degree in environmental studies introduced Elise to the world of interpreting nature, which has evolved into both a passion and profession. She has worked as a naturalist since 1994 in latitudes both north and south. Her career started in the jungles of Costa Rica, Peru and Ecuador working as a resident naturalist at remote jungle lodges. Elise then found herself gravitating towards northern climes and she began leading trips in Alaska, a place she has considered home ever since.
Elise started working for Lindblad in 2007. It was at this juncture in her naturalist career that she began to develop an interest in history. Today that interest has blossomed into an insatiable thirst for historical knowledge relative to the areas she travels. There is nothing she enjoys more than integrating biological, cultural and historical information and sharing that with guests on the trail, bow and bridge. Elise resides near the entrance of Denali National Park in the summer and on the island of Kauai in the winter. When she is not working, she enjoys travelling, exploring the backcountry of Alaska and volunteering as a docent (leading walks) at botanical gardens on beautiful Kauai.
