Gary Moulton

Gary is a professor of history at the University of Nebraska and editor of the Journals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. He has directed the project from its beginning in 1979. After two decades, he completed the project and published thirteen volumes through the University of Nebraska Press. Originally from Oklahoma, Gary received all his degrees in the state before going to Nebraska to take the Lewis and Clark project. He has received awards for the work from the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, the American Historical Association and the Lewis and Clark Foundation. He was an advisor for Ken Burns’ documentary film on the expedition and served on the advisory panel of the U.S. Mint to select the images for the new one-dollar Sacagawea coin.
