James Delgado


Dr. James P. Delgado’s career spans nearly five decades of investigating the past and sharing discovery and history with a global audience.  His five-decade professional journey as a maritime archaeologist and historian has focused on some of history’s most iconic shipwrecks. He has led the work focused on the identification and ongoing work to protect and share the archaeology of Clotilda for the past three years.  He is the lead author of the forthcoming Clotilda: The Archaeology and History of the Last Slave Ship (University of Alabama Press). Dr. Delgado is the Senior Vice President of SEARCH, Inc., the nation’s largest company devoted to archaeology, historic preservation and museum services.
