Liz Bradfield
Liz splits her time between the worlds of biology and literature. At home on Cape Cod, she does field work with whales and seals. The author of five collections of poetry, Liz also brings with her an interest in how literature and art can enliven science and enrich our connections to places. She has had work published in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, and Orion; and she is a professor of creative writing at Brandeis University.
Liz has worked on expedition ships as a naturalist since 1999 and likes to think of herself as an “aspiring generalist.” She finds that the continued study of any place, animal, or ecology leads to only more interesting questions and interconnections, and more fields to explore.
