Malcolm Campbell
Native New Zealander Malcolm Campbell is a professional naturalist and birder who has worked for 20 years on conservation and environmental issues in his country's national parks, forests, and coastal marine environments. He has led many National Geographic Expeditions in New Zealand and will share his in-depth knowledge of his country's people, political history, flora and fauna, and indigenous Mâori culture.
Malcolm has been introducing our travelers to his native country ever since we launched our popular New Zealand Adventure. He is a natural storyteller, a friendly and enthusiastic travel companion, and possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of New Zealand, which he imparts with warmth and zest. Malcolm is fond of quoting Mark Twain's quip from Journeys across the Equator, "When God finished making the world, he took the best of everything and made New Zealand."
But for Malcolm, the greatest memories of his expedition experiences are the remarkable people he has the chance to travel with. As he says, "Many people who come on this very special trip form bonds that last a lifetime, and over the years I have made many lasting friendships. Never a week goes by when I don’t have a number of emails from past travelers. One participant was so impressed that he came back with his extended family two years later and recently indicated that he might even come back again."
