Raul Menoscal

Raul, known as Ruly, was born in Guayaquil in the Guayas province of Ecuador.  He moved to the Galápagos Islands in 1992 and has been established there ever since.  He finished primary and high school in Guayaquil, then joined the Ecuadorian Navy for one and half years and later spent three years in the Escuela Politecnica del Litoral in Guayaquil.

Ruly went on to work as a field assistant for the Charles Darwin Research Station on three different projects and fell deeply in love with the Galápagos Islands.  He became a naturalist in 1993 in the port town of Puerto Ayora, on the island of Santa Cruz, and has been working as a freelance naturalist guide since then.

Ruly is a professional SCUBA diver, current PADI instructor, and is also certified as a Galápagos Marine Reserve dive guide.  He owns a dive center in Guayaquil, 'Aquatic-Expedition', which is in charge of SCUBA training for the police department special forces unit in Guayaquil and two important universities.  Ruly also enjoys spending time with his four children: Andrea-Jose, Raul-Andres, Roberta-Andrea, and Sebastian-Andres.
