New York, NY, September 4, 2008 – Lindblad Expeditions (www.expeditions.com), the expedition travel pioneer headquartered in New York City, has received recognition in two categories of the Travel Weekly annual Magellan Awards competition. Lindblad Expeditions, which works in partnership with the National Geographic Society to inspire people to explore and care about the planet, has received a 2008 Gold Magellan Award in the Cruise Ship | Small Cruise Ship (500 Passengers or under) category, as well as a 2008 Silver Magellan Award in the Cruise Ship | Eco-Friendly "Green" Cruise Ship category.
Travel Weekly Magazine developed the Magellan Awards, which are judged and overseen by a panel of top travel professionals representing the best names and most accomplished leaders from the industry. The magazine has said of the awards, “From design to marketing to services, the Travel Weekly Magellan Awards honor the best in travel and salute outstanding travel professionals. The Awards acknowledge a broad range of industry segments including Hotels and Resorts, Travel Destinations, Cruise Lines, Online Travel Services, Airlines and Airports, Travel Agents and Agencies, and Car Rental Companies.”
