Right after breakfast we loaded the skiffs and went to explore a private reserve called Amazon Natural Park. This reserve has a very mature forest with a great sample of rubber trees that date from the rubber baron era. Seven hanging bridges traverse the reserve—a highlight for our guests.
After lunch, we visited a Cocama village along the Marañon River. We were greeted by the women of the village who were dancing to the rhythm of their local drums and flutes. In this village, we learned about their lifestyle and also had the opportunity to enjoy a pond that had the giant water lilies, the Victoria regia lilies.
In the late afternoon, we explored Piraña Creek. Sloths, common squirrel monkeys and different species of birds brought joy to our guests. As the sun began to set, flocks of oropendulas, caciques, parakeets and many other birds returned to their nesting grounds. It was another great day in the Upper Amazon.
