Today we experienced the cultural and natural diversity of the Upper Amazon. Our first outing of the day was to Amazonas Community. This is a small village where we were welcomed by a group of women leaders that are part of the several projects of Minga Peru, one of the organizations that Lindblad- National Geographic supports. Here we learned about the local way of living, and the several productive and cultural activities that people do here. It was a great opportunity to interact and spend time with local people of all ages, from small kids to elders.
We later sailed into the confluence of the Marañon and Ucayali Rivers, which form the great Amazon River. After lunch, we had a presentation about the cultural diversity of this region of the Amazon Basin, thanks to Adonai, one of our naturalists.
In the afternoon, we visited Clavero Lake to enjoy a river plunge! People had a great time swimming in the clean waters of this beautiful lake. Finally, we explored the area with our skiffs and enjoyed watching many birds and mammals. Everyone is really happy to be part of an Amazon experience that allows us to interact with wonderful people and explore the region looking for amazing wildlife.
