Another gorgeous day in the Amazon, and this time we had the chance to interact with one of the local communities.  It’s part of our belief and commitment at Lindblad Expeditions that it is very important to support the local villages where we travel to help them to develop and grow. With our visit, local artisans get an income to support their families.  Along with “Minga Peru,” a non-profit organization, we are helping this community to develop a very important project that will impact the local families and the ecology of this region.

Our guests got the opportunity to get involved. Their visit will help create a fish farm that will provide an income to the villagers while the local fish are on their reproductive season. The project is in the first stage, where the infrastructure is ready and Minga Peru is preparing the villagers to go on to the next stage.

After this visit and getting to know that we are helping the Amazonas community, we all got back to Delfin II and continued our navigation deeper into the Amazon.

Mid-afternoon we got ready to go on a skiff expedition. Once again the exuberant flora and the amazing fauna made our outing one to remember. Hawks, herons, neo-tropical cormorants, squirrel monkeys and many more were part of the wildlife we got the chance to enjoy and discover today.
