It was a gusty, foggy, and relaxing day at sea. Sporadic sculptural icebergs drifted past, barely visible through the mist and with waves crashing around their bases. Little wildlife was observed, but that allowed us to focus inward. Between a live photo editing workshop by National Geographic Photographer Jasper Doest, small group art tours, lectures, and a yoga/guided meditation session led by National Geographic Endurance’s wonderful wellness team, the hours gently disappeared.
Following a successful live auction last evening, guests perused a collection of items available by silent auction, with proceeds going to the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust who conserve and maintain the huts and historic sites in the Ross Sea region we visited. On this extended voyage, we are slowly learning about the experiences and talents of our fellow expeditioners, and we also had the opportunity to hear about the images, stories, and personalities that shaped a work of Antarctic fiction.
