This morning the National Geographic Sea Bird found herself docked in the city of Astoria, OR. Astoria is located at the mouth of the Columbia River, also known as Coast Guard City. After breakfast, we took motor coaches that headed to Fort Clatsop, Lewis and Clark Historic National Park. There was an option to enjoy the museum or walk the property to see the fort that Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery stayed in during the last days of their journey. After visiting Fort Clatsop, there was a chance to stop at the Columbia River Maritime Museum. The museum displays many local marine time activities, stories of shipwrecks, fishing canneries, and navigating strategies.

After lunch, we visited the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, where we saw Cape Disappointment. There was a chance to take a nature walk down to Waikiki Beach, and have a wonderful view of Cape Disappointment and lighthouse from a far. This was a great way to journey to the Pacific Ocean and stick our toes in the water. There was also an opportunity to visit the Astoria Column. It was a beautiful day in Astoria.
