This morning, Sea Cloud II navigated across the Ligurian waters, a portion of the Mediterranean Sea that is centered in the northwestern littoral of Italy, between the Balearic and Tyrrhenian sub-seas. While navigating, Chief Mate Catarina gave a presentation on the lido deck about this magnificent ship, and the crew displayed the impressive sail system.

From the ship, our guests and staff had the first sighting of the Apuane (Apuan) Alps, which are the northernmost section of the Italian Apennines. Later in the afternoon, we explored the city of Genoa and visited Ferrari Square, the Duke Palace, the Church of St Lawrence, and other historical buildings. Genoa, as a very ancient city, shows the typical Medieval architecture and town structure, with its narrow streets, tall buildings made of sandstone and re-used marble, and plenty of fountains.
