After six days surrounded by the sandstone cliffs, mangroves, and beautiful beaches of the Kimberley, today we are surrounded by the wide, calm waters of the Timor Sea. This is quite appropriate since we are now bound for the island of Timor, our first port of call in Indonesia. But first we made a brief stop in Darwin for the formalities of leaving Australia, which provided us with a pleasant interlude at sea to recharge our batteries, listen to presentations from the field staff, and enjoy all the comforts and pleasures that National Geographic Orion has to offer.
