Our first days at sea are always exciting. It’s the perfect time to enjoy all the amenities our wonderful National Geographic Resolution provides and it’s a perfect opportunity to learn from our staff’s presentations.

The day started quite grey and only a few Laysan albatross were flying around the ship. Then suddenly in the afternoon, perhaps because we were passing a sea basin or some kind of upwelling, a few sperm whales were seen in the distance.

You never know what the ocean will provide or when those magical moments might happen but since staff is always on the lookout on the bridge, scanning for wildlife or beautiful moments, it is indeed helpful.

The grey day left us with one of the most stunning sunsets we’ve seen so far during this trip, and with that view still in our eyes, we enjoyed dinner and finished our day dancing with the crew show party.
