And so our adventure begins! After sailing away from Ushuaia and out through the Beagle Channel, we began our day out in the open ocean on our way towards the Falkland Islands. A day at sea in the Southern Ocean can always guarantee a few things, including great seabirds and a test of one’s sea legs. Throughout the day, we were treated to wonderful views of a variety of tube nose birds soaring all around us. In between presentations and important briefings, we spent time on the outer decks to watch countless giant petrels, black-browed albatross, and cape petrels master the wind.

As we settled in for dinner, we glimpsed the rugged cliffs of the West Falklands as we arrived at our first destination of this voyage, excited for the coming days!
