After a very blustery day at sea, we awoke to beautiful sunshine and less wind.

At breakfast National Geographic Resolution pulled into Bechevin Bay on the northwestern side of Atka. The ship sailed just far enough into the bay to give us respite from the swell. We went ashore for a walk to appreciate nature and to get a look at a wreck of a B-24 Liberator in amazing shape after 80 years on shore.

We headed out into the tundra with our various groups where we saw Arctic foxes, reindeer, orchids, falcons, and other creatures. The morning was just bliss!

During a perfectly timed BBQ lunch on deck in the rare sunshine of the Aleutians, we repositioned to Wall Bay, a true expedition stop, a place where no one on board had ever been before. Some of us kayaked and some went for a walk among the reindeer and the bald eagles.
