The day started in a beautiful location, Atun Poza Lake, a place home to fishermen, and a very rich area with different species of fish. We left the boat before breakfast and started exploring the area. As we approached the entrance of Atun Poza we found several families starting to collect their catch of the day! It’s amazing to see how rich the waters are in these areas!
But the Amazon is unpredictable, the rivers carve the soil, change their course, the waters flood and sometimes they dry, the river is always changing, today our skiffs arrived to a point where the waters were so low we couldn’t continue! For the adventure we tried, but laughing we decided to accept what the river have decided! So we turned around and came back to explore the Ucayali River. In a beautiful shady shore area along the way we had our breakfast on the skiffs!
In the afternoon we explored another amazing location, the Pacaya River. We found four different species of monkeys: black capuchin, red howler, monk saki, and squirrel monkeys! Some sloths were hanging from the trees and finally we reached a beautiful black water lake called Yanayacu. With hundreds of cormorants and egrets all around we jumped in the water and enjoyed a drink on the house! After swimming we continued to explore the location and finally came back to what we consider our home now, the Delfin II.
