When we left the Canadian Arctic for Greenland our course took us within close proximity of a band of remnant sea ice. We hoped to see wildlife utilizing this precious habitat.

As we scanned the ice floes while we sailed by, we saw several seals, harp and ringed, as well as a few walrus hauled out. After about an hour and as we neared the end of the ice pack, we spotted a lone polar bear climbing onto a small floe.

With skillful maneuvering and patience, the ship approached slowly giving all on board an incredible view of a young male polar bear, one of the greatest sights in the natural world to behold. After our time with the bear we celebrated with a barbeque on the back deck and enjoyed the remainder of the beautiful day.
