A green flash started off our morning sunrise near Isla Carmen off of Loreto. Binoculars at the ready, we had our eyes peeled on the water to look for marine mammals. Our efforts paid off when we encountered a blue whale mom and calf pair, who we were able to observe from a close distance off the bow of National Geographic Venture. Following lunch, we set out for hiking and kayaking adventures on Isla Danzante, exploring both the incredible land and sea environments of this island. To top it all off, we enjoyed a beautiful beach barbecue dinner complete with dolphins swimming close to shore in the small bay in front of us. All in all, it was an absolutely “megafunna” day!
