Guests rose to another fantastic sunrise best viewed from the outer decks. For those inclined, wellness specialist Belinda offered morning stretches whilst the sun broke the dramatic horizon. After breakfast we swiftly departed for the northwest coast of the Balinese mainland in search of one of the rarest starlings, the Bali miner. All guests managed to catch a glimpse of the beautiful bird at one of the reintroduction sites. This was proceeded by a walk along the coast and through the mangroves to a nearby temple.

After lunch Captain Alex introduced the expedition staff to the guests and briefed them on the day’s activities and relevant safety information. Guests arrived for their first snorkel of the trip and were greeted with 15-meter visibility. A slight swell and a bit of wind chop made the entry and exit more exciting, and all guests managed with high spirits. Once back on board Captain Alex formally welcomed the guests and joined them for the Captain’s Welcome Dinner. A great start to what promises to be an excellent trip.
