Today our first order of activities was to get the great honor to visit Barro Del Colorado Island (Red Clay Island) or better known as BCI, which not only is the biggest island created when they dam the Chagres River for the completion of the Panama Canal, but it is as well one of the most studied pieces of tropical rain forest in the world, now days run by the Smithsonian Institute.

After exploring BCI and learning of all the different kind of projects and research going on the island we were ready to star our second haft of the transit of the Panama Canal in our way to the Caribbean crossing the last three steps of the Gatun locks to be lower 85 feet to sea level.
