We woke up early in the morning very excited because today was our first full day visiting the Galápagos.
A pre-breakfast brisk walk to the summit of Bartolomé Island was how we started our day. Perfect weather and good light for pictures made our visit quite pleasant. This National Park’s visitor site is well known for its geological features. The dream of every geologist, the desolated volcanic landscape made us feel like we were walking on another planet’s surface.
After breakfast all guests geared up for the beach. The calm seas and the sunshine gave us very good conditions for snorkeling. Big schools of fish, a couple of penguins and even a shark were spotted while snorkeling. Shortly after, some guests decided to come back to the beach to have a leisurely morning sunbathing on a beautiful, golden, sandy beach.
After lunch the National Geographic Islander headed towards Rabida to continue exploring and discovering the marvels of the archipelago. Kayaking, deep water snorkeling, beach time and a nature walk were all organized for our guests to maximize their experience at this site.
A lot of sea bird species, such as blue footed boobies, brown pelicans, common noddies, shearwaters, and penguins were found kayaking along the coast of Rabida. In the deep water snorkeling, sea lions made our day!
The walk showed us beautiful views of Rabida as well as a mix of geology and flora and fauna, as we made our way back to enjoy a spectacular sunset.
