Today we woke up early in the morning at Bartolome Island for a vigorous hike. With an area of a half-square mile and an elevation of about 374 feet, this is an amazing geological spot. We learned from spatter cones, tuff formations and the permeability of the lava. One of the highlights is the Pinnacle Rock which is the remains of an old tuff cone. Also very interesting is the pioneer vegetation that can be found here. In the afternoon we visited Rabida Island with an area of 1.9 square miles and an elevation of 1,200 feet the red sand beach captures everyone’s attention. The color will be the product of a substance that iron oxides in the sand grains.
