It turned out to be a great day for wildlife. Despite a strong easterly wind, we managed to go ashore at Forsbladodden. This little peninsula is located within Bellsund, which constitutes the outer part of two fjords, Van Keulenfjord and Van Mijenfjord. Bellsund is renowned for its rich wildlife, and we spent the whole day in the area.
In the late afternoon, naturalist Ella Potts shared her knowledge of big marine mammals in her presentation titled “The Secrets of Whales.” After dinner National Geographic photographer Jeff Mauritzen gave a presentation on “Creative and Technical Advice for the Outdoor Photographer.” Later, we headed back to the ice on the east side of Spitsbergen.
