The Amazon rainforest is an amazing location, full of biodiversity and wildlife. The challenges to encountering wildlife in the deep foliaged-forest are endless, but the excitement that we feel upon finding the birds, monkeys or any of the well camouflaged reptiles make it all worth it.

The forest is not the only challenge, and often the main one could be the rain itself. Being a “rain forest”, we expect a lot of rain, and that was the case for our morning, as we encountered a heavy rainfall when we woke up today.

As with any expedition, we were prepared to wait and even change our plans if need be, but luckily it didn’t come to that, as the rain receded during the late morning and we were able to fully explore Belluda Caño. It was worth the wait, as we got to see great wildlife sightings such as the yellow and blue macaws, which are always welcome during our excursions. Once we continued our exploration, we then encountered the famous giant water lilies, which a lot of our guests were pleased to finally see.

For our afternoon excursion, we repositioned the ship to a location known as Iricahua Caño, where we could enjoy our last kayak trip of our voyage and a nice afternoon exploration via skiffs.

The narrow channel of Iricahua, provided us all with great views of scarlet macaws perching on trees, three-toed sloth carrying a small baby on her belly and the ever spooky tarantula coming out of a floating log in the middle of the river.

It was a great day, full of wildlife observations and the endless overwhelming landscapes!
