This morning as usual, we woke up at 5:30, as we are getting used to our early outings.  We went out for a pre-breakfast excursion to explore the main river, the Ucayali, the biggest tributary of the Amazon, which was very close to our marooning tree. We enjoyed a great number of blue and yellow macaws, which love to live by the Aguaje palm trees of the area! All our goals were met, one by one, including the Saki monkeys, which were seen in large numbers and provided excellent photo opportunities for our photographers. Then we returned to the Delfin II to have our breakfast, and we got ready for the second visit of the morning: to explore the entrance of a tributary of the Ucayali, the Belluda Cano. Our highlight was to find the only nocturnal monkey of the region, known as the “noisy night monkey”. After our return, we had a wonderful introduction to National Geographic photography by our acclaimed onboard photo instructor, who taught us the tricks and trades of a Nat Geo editor! Afterwards we had a delicious and well-deserved lunch, with gorgeous presentation of our Peruvian cuisine.

Our final activity of the day was boarding our skiffs to visit the Dorado River, where big surprises awaited, like sightings of horned screamers and red howler monkeys. It was quite a noisy afternoon... As the sun set, darkness allowed us to find the red eyes of the local caimans, who were lurking along the shore, waiting for a suitable prey. After our evening outings, we returned to the ship for a presentation on Pisco Sours, which led us into dinner. This was another incredible day in our adventure in the Amazon!
