The more we immerse ourselves in deeper areas of the Pacaya-Samiria Reserve, the more amazing wildlife encounters we can experience. Today we started early in the morning with an exploration of the Ucayali River, in a specific area that is known because of its good opportunities to spot different species of macaws. We saw not only blue and yellow macaws, but we were also surprised by a peregrine falcon hunting a yellow-rumped cacique while in flight, an awesome way of starting our day. Before coming back for breakfast, we saw for the first time of the week the monk saki monkey, a very hairy species of monkey with a long and furry tail.
We came back onboard Delfin II for breakfast and immediately got ready for another outing, this time to visit Belluda Caño. Here, we found two species of toucans, a caiman lizard, a native arboreal tree rat and several species of birds. After lunch, we had two presentations onboard: a first presentation about photography composition tools and afterwards, our local guides introduced us to the local cultures and traditions. Later in the afternoon, we had a late outing with the main purpose of exploring El Dorado River and staying until sunset. This is the best time to look for caimans and listen to sounds of the jungle, a wonderful experience to finish our day.
