We’ve been lucky about the weather this week, we are at the rainy forest, one of the largest masses of fresh water in our planet, but in all our excursion we did not find rain, today it rained while we were having lunch but that was it!
We visited early in the morning, an incredible place that always is fully or wildlife; this is a very famous spot in the jungle to see the red and blue macaws, Parrots and other kind of birds. Macaws are nesting in holes of very old dead trees and early at six o’clock am they came out of their holes to warm up with the very first sun light-rays and the start their migration in search of food. We saw few of them, and believe me! It is a great sensation and excitement when you see them; they are so colorful, iridescent blue and yellow color that takes over the rest of colors around; black capped herons where also beautiful to see, we found a roadside hawk eating a big insect, and a kite eating a snail. Many other small birds such as tanagers and donacobius were seen.
After the exploration we came back on board for breakfast and then we went out again to explore other narrow creeks of Belluda. Water lilies and more of the incredible amazon wildlife were seen.
Later in the afternoon the captain of the Delfin II motored to Dorado river, once there we started our exploration, just at the entrance were many cattle egrets and snowy egrets, and a minute later we found a group of monkeys, monk saki monkeys are beautiful mammals, but usually are not seen so close like this time. One of them came down on a tree and stayed 15 feet away from us. It was amazing, it was very curious but at the same time they were shaking the branches of a tree in signal that we are the intruders.
Further up river, we found more birds and animals; the experience of going through these narrow creeks is astonishing. The sound of the jungle is impressive and we feel miniatures in this planet. The afternoon is sunny and warm. The sun sets quickly and it is time to return to our ship. The speed of the skiffs produces breeze in our faces and it feels great to cool off. Sky turned orange and red, trees reflect on the water, the scenario is unique, breathtaking.
