After cruising overnight for 20 hours, we arrived in the Gulf of Panama, the powerful north eastern trade winds cross the isthmus and hit the surface of the water causing an upwell. This effect brings abundance of fish and there fore the some of the islands of the gulf as used as nesting sites for thousands of sea birds.

Bona is part of a group of tree islands where we can observe the nesting behavior of pelicans, brown boobies, blue footed boobies and magnificent frigate birds; the abundant bird life of this island its overwhelming, this islands are covered with a gorgeous tropical deciduous forest and in this time of year the amazing blossoms of the purple pui decorate the hill sides.
