When National Geographic Quest set anchor just off Ranguana Caye, sight alone made it clear that the day awaiting us on this tiny, two-acre jewel of an island was going to leave impressions. A quick ride by Zodiac would bring us to what turned out to be one of the finest days of the expedition we’ve had! Under the auspices of great weather, passengers had an assortment of activities to choose from for our last full day in Belize.
Easily one of our most popular offerings, quite a few people went for the snorkeling gear today. Sessions offered are based on the guest’s own background, meaning experience is never a disqualifying factor. All the better, too, that your time exploring this rich underwater expanse with friends and family takes place in the most extensive reef system in the northern hemisphere!
A good number still joined the photography group, coming out with some incredible pictures with the bright and beautiful Caribbean Sea in the background. Other guests went birding, and although there wasn’t the variety of wildlife one might otherwise find on mainland Belize, a walk through this small tropical stretch was well received with some geology and natural history thrown in the mix.
We round off another remarkable day with an afternoon nap in the hammocks, sunbathing, and enjoying the show of brown pelicans diving over and over again for silversides.
