There is no better way to start the day than doing some morning stretching exercises while the sun’s rays lit up the paradise of Costa Rica. After navigating during the night from the Osa Peninsula, National Geographic Sea Lion dropped anchor in front of Casa Orquidea, located at the southern part of Costa Rica, where the mountains are drawn by the flight of scarlet macaws and the sounds of gorgeous birds take us to the maximum level of relaxation.

Surrounded by an impressive garden of tropical flowers and plants, our guests were delighted with this energizing paradise. Mixed flocks of birds filled the air with their lovely songs while guests explored the premises. It was just a relaxing morning.

Back on board, right before lunch, some guests decided to complete their relaxing therapy by receiving treatments at the LEX Spa, while others went swimming in the calm waters of Golfo Dulce. It was hard to coax them out of the water but we had to weigh anchor in order to reach our next destination of the day.

In the afternoon, a little rain on the horizon was not an obstacle for our different activities. Some went to enjoy a fresh hike through Finca Saladero. Some went cruising along Rio Esquinas while others decided to work out a little bit by kayaking through the mangrove estuary. Each one of them was engaged with the sounds and the exotic scenery.

After returning from our afternoon adventures, we all gathered at Finca Saladero. Here our hosts Harvey and Susan offered us a delicious local desert made with coconut, called cajeta. This was an excellent way to reload our energy and complete our relaxing day.

Back on board, we shared our thoughts of this wonderful and joyful day in this paradise. We were sad to know that it was our last day in Costa Rica but our adventure has to continue. Next destination… Panama!

Pura Vida!
