We woke up in the fishing port of Chau Doc in Vietnam, a very industrious portion of the Mekong Delta and more bustling than the tranquil Cambodian portion of the river. We started our morning with a trishaw ride through the city streets before stopping to visit a local temple and explore the morning market. Afterwards, we hopped on a local boat to visit a nearby floating fishing farm before returning to the Jahan. The rest of the morning was spent cruising the Bassac and the channels that connect to the northern branch of the Mekong Delta. Voant and Smey offered ship tours before lunch.
After lunch, our photo instructor, Anna Mazurek, did a presentation on smart phone photography editing. Later in the afternoon, we arrived at a family farm in the village of My An Hung to explore the area on foot. We were able to taste local fruit, including the famous smelly durian, and we watched a dance performance. We concluded the day with a late afternoon cocktail hour on the beach with drinks and snacks.
