Today as the end of our trip approaches, we visited another great spot called Clavero Lake. Clavero Lake is actually an oxbow-lake, created by the powerful river as it meanders down towards the ocean. It moves like a serpent through the very vast flat sedimentary plains accumulated over the last millions of years by the river itself.

At some point the river creates a shortcut and cuts through, leaving behind an oxbow-lake that slowly and eventually will fill up with sediment and disappear.

When flying into this area, the innumerable scars left behind by this never ending process are even visible from the air.
