Today was our first day in Panama, and we visited one of the most beautiful parks in this country, Coiba National Park. Coiba is the biggest marine park in the Eastern Pacific with multiple islands, pristine beaches, and crystal-clear water. Until recently, the island was a penal colony for the most dangerous criminals. For this reason, its discovery by developers was prevented, and it maintained its pristine conditions.
We visited Cocos Island for snorkeling. This little island has an amazing rocky reef with an incredible number of fish species. The water was very clear today, and we got to see many different species, including whitetip reef sharks and the beautiful hawksbill sea turtle.
Another destination for the morning was the main ranger station, where we took a nature walk and counted more than twenty-five bird species, iguanas, and the endemic agouti. This location was perfect for swimming and kayaking.
