This morning before breakfast, we went on a wee bike ride along the Caledonian Canal. It was a beautiful way to start the day. After breakfast, Lord of the Glens began her transit up Neptune’s Staircase and into the Caledonian Canal. Guests watched this engineering marvel from the bow of our ship.
In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to hike along the Caledonian Canal and have Lord of the Glens pass us as she docked alongside the town of Fort Augustus. Sitting on the south end of Loch Ness, the quaint town offered a great long walk for our guests to soak up the sights of the Highlands here in Scotland. Along our walk, we visited a cemetery and stopped by the resting place of John Anderson, friend of the famous poet, Robert Burns.
After dinner, a local Scotsman of Fort Augustus came onboard to show us how Scots dressed back in time, using some of our guests as the models. It was a fantastic day exploring the Highlands filled with awe and laughter.
