We spent our first night tucked into the narrow and protected DeGroff Bay. The guests aboard the National Geographic Sea Bird awoke to glassy waters and almost clear skies. We had no shortage of activities to take part in today and plenty of wildlife sightings, including two rounds of kayaking and an interesting exploratory forest hikes. We saw numerous wildflowers and Sitka black-tail deer during our forest walks.
On three different occasions, we spotted a brown bear strolling the coast as we cruised through Peril Strait. A few minutes prior to heading into the dining room for dinner, we were pleasantly surprised by four humpback whales.
