Today the intrepid explorers aboard National Geographic Resolution continued their journey through the turbulent seas of the Drake Passage. Although the seas were high and the wind strong, National Geographic Resolution proved to be the perfect expedition vessel. It gracefully carried adventurers through some of the roughest seas in the world, allowing guests to encounter seabirds, penguins, fin whales, and humpbacks along the way.
By late morning, the vessel made it to the Antarctic Peninsula. The explorers gathered on the ship’s many observation decks and were awestruck by the beauty and majesty of the Gerlache Strait.
By early afternoon, National Geographic Resolution made it to Paradise Harbor, where explorers took part in the first Zodiac tour of the expedition. The Zodiacs cruised among mesmerizing ice formations, visited with gentoo penguins and Weddell seals, and explored the outskirts of Brown Station. The day was capped off by the Captain’s Welcome cocktail hour and dinner, accentuated by a beautiful twilight-lit backdrop in Paradise Harbor.
