This morning we woke up in Dubrovnik. Once a capital of the medieval Republic of Ragusa it is now the best preserved medieval city in Europe. The sight of it surrounded by white 6,500 feet long walls, the clear blue Adriatic Sea and orange colored rooftops was breathtaking.
We were just in time to finish our guided tour of the city and the walls before hordes of tourists occupied it and came back to Sea Cloud just in time for lunch.
The afternoon was reserved for swimming in the crystal clear Adriatic Sea, and later in the day we enjoyed a wonderful private concert in the atrium of a Dominican monastery. A group of traditional singers called Klapa performed medieval and traditional acapella songs, a few of which were accompanied by the chirps of Alpine swifts. The atmosphere and ambiance the group created felt like we had travelled back in time to the era of the Republic of Ragusa.
Our day ended with a stroll through Dubrovnik capturing the night lights of the Pearl of the Adriatic.
