Kayaking and killer whales made for an excellent final day of our voyage. Despite strong winds, our expedition leader found a very protected cove for the first and last kayaking operation of our journey. It’s a process to set up this activity, but the independence and serenity are worth it.
We had planned an afternoon at sea, but we did not expect a pod of killer whales! We estimated eight individuals in the group we spotted after lunch. We had great views, especially when they swam towards us and right under the bow. Thank you, Captain, for the excellent maneuvering and for the photo from the bridge.
We’ll have our Captain’s Farewell tonight, and we are off to St. John’s tomorrow.
