Today was another amazing day full of sun, wildlife, and merriment. We began at El Barril, or “The Barrel,” with kayaking and Zodiac tours to explore the mangroves. It was such a special experience to see firsthand all of the life these unassuming plants are able to house.
From there we made our way north through Canal de Soledad. We passed the repositioning on the sun-soaked bow, spotting birds amongst the mangroves while bottlenose dolphins intermittently rode the waves created by the ship.
Once we arrived in Adolfo Lopez Mateos, we dropped our anchor to go whale watching. While we did see half a dozen gray whales on our panga tour, the highlight for many was the bottlenose dolphin pod that appeared just as we were heading back to the ship.
After we returned, we spent the evening listening to the music of local musicians Los Coyotes and enjoying a performance from local dancers Las Flores Del Desierto, or the Desert Flowers. A gorgeous sunset was followed by a delicious Mexican buffet, the perfect way to end another unforgettable day in beautiful Baja California.
