Today was a bittersweet day aboard National Geographic Sea Bird because it’s the last full day of the Baja season. The day started with a magical kayak through the mangroves of El Barril, followed by a Zodiac tour which dug deeper into the maze of the mangroves. Naturalists spotted incredible bird life including green herons, white ibis, and great egrets. In the afternoon guests embarked on hikes across Puerto Magdalena, hiking through incredible sand dunes, learning all about amazing desert plants, and ending with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean.

What an fabulous season it’s been! This daily expedition report goes out to all the people that make Baja California so magical:

To Chejo and his team – our incredible host on Isla Magdalena, whose smile and unwavering friendliness was incredibly heartwarming.

To the band of Los Coyotes (whose members include Giovanni and Cucko) – thank you for the incredible music. Being able to bring smiles to people’s faces through sound is such an incredible talent.

And to Celia and Dahlia – whose dancing skills, sense of style, and personalities are impeccable. (And ability to get people dancing even more so!)

And to the guests, crew, and staff that have made these adventures so memorable – thank you for all you do and for going above and beyond every day! We all look forward to what next year brings in Baja.

Te veo el proximo ano, Baja!
