This morning, we awoke next to Five Fingers Lighthouse surrounded by humpback whales. We doubled back north towards Holkham Bay, watching the whales as they passed. Shortly after breakfast and passing through Holkham Bay and into Endicott Arm, we found a group of three killer whales. We were all heading in the same direction towards the face of Dawes Glacier.

The rock walls rose above us into sheer cliffs the closer we got to the glacier. In sight of the face of the glacier, we loaded into Zodiacs and cruised around the ice. Ice thundered into the water where the killer whales caught up and joined us in search of harbor seals. Today was an amazing start to the voyage, between good weather and great wildlife.
