Arriving to Gardner Bay at Española Island, we floated in upon a turquoise shallow sea. As the equatorial sun began to poke through the clouds, we explored the undersea world, snorkeling with Galapagos sea lions, diamond stingrays, and large schools of fish that inhabit the brightly colored marine environment. Afterwards we landed at a coralline sand beach, with lazing sea lions and the abundant Española mockingbird fliting back and forth among us.
A short navigation brought us to Punta Suarez in the afternoon, one of the richest areas in wildlife in the entire archipelago. We watched the majestic waved albatross reaffirming its lifelong bond with its mate with sky pointing, beak clacking, and neck swaying—an intricate pattern that is their bond. We watched in awe as Nazca boobies, finches, and Galapagos hawks went about their daily lives, as the sun gave its last light before dipping into the horizon.
