Española is one of the oldest islands in the archipelago, and is the perfect example of adaptive radiation or speciation—meaning that the animals have diverged from a common ancestor until they have converted into a completely different species. On this island, we have a few examples which are worth to mentioning, such as, Española lava lizards, Española mocking bird, Española or waved albatross, and Española marine iguanas.
This is just a basic example of the complexity of its flora and fauna formation on this archipelago. In the past, there were different means of colonization, and once these different creatures arrived to the archipelago, they adapted and become endemic to Galapagos only.
