The visit started early, as the animals’ activities start early! We disembarked at Espumilla Beach on Santiago Island at 6:30 a.m. As soon as we arrived the reward was there! Several Galapagos hawks were posing for our lenses, standing on the mangroves trees. One of them decided to land by one of our guests’ backpack! What a photo!

The hike went through the dry zone of vegetation. Huge Palo Santo trees are home to different species of land birds. From the top of a hill we discovered a beautiful brackish water lagoon that made the scenery look even more impressive!

We had options for everyone. Some of our guests decided to hike while others enjoyed a photo walk along the beach. Of course their expectations where fulfilled!

We came back onboard to get ready for the water: snorkeling, kayaking and the glass bottom boat. Everyone got the chance to discover nature in their own way.

In the afternoon we visited Puerto Egas. We started with some relaxing time at the beach. We built sand castles while some sea lions enjoyed their siesta and some marine iguanas got sun on the black sand of the beach.

After an hour we left for our visit along the shores of Puerto Egas. The tuff has covered some lava areas which has created the most beautiful landscapes! We arrived to the grottos, home of fur seals, and we walked in tide pools, enjoying a magical time in this place.

To end our day on Santiago Island, several hundred blue footed boobies went diving in front of us! What a landscape! What a light! All these moments and memories are coming with us for the rest of our lives… that’s the beauty nature!
