It’s always a treat to wake up with a view of the rain forest meeting the Pacific Ocean. In a very peaceful way, we all got ready for this amazing day, starting at Finca Saladero, where we took a short ride to land at the beach of this beautiful property located right inside the Golfo Dulce.

As we disembarked the group was divided into hikers and kayakers. Nice easy trails and open forest views were available for all those natural history lovers and photographers, and nice calm waters for those that were looking for a relaxing paddling moment. Toucans and scarlet macaws were two of the highlights of this amazing place.

After this great morning at Finca Saladero we repositioned the ship in front of Casa Orquidea; escorting dolphins turned our short transit on board National Geographic Sea Lion into another natural experience. Their interaction provided good photo opportunities for those with cameras or just the pleasure to observe marine life.

As we made it to Casa Orquidea the weather was just perfect and the ocean was inviting all of us to take a swim; five minutes later our expedition leader announced an invitation to jump off the fantail into the warm and calm waters of the Costa Rican Pacific Ocean, where we ended up having lots of fun.

In the afternoon the attention was focused on Casa Orquidea Botanical Gardens. The overwhelming numbers of orchids, bromeliads, malvas, ferns, and heliconias, among others, were the perfect models for this delightful photo session. Everyone was pleased with hundreds of beautiful photos and lovely memories, along with new learning experiences about the tropical systems in our world.
